We are delighted to share our new school logo!
For the logo design, we enlisted the help of Nick Birch, Creative Director at 12 Miles North. Nick visited school to walk around, meet the children and staff, and ultimately get a feel for ‘what the school was all about’. He challenged our thinking with the designs he produced, and the Governing Body settled on a logo that truly reflected the school’s motto: ‘A community of faith where we believe, achieve and grow together.’
The foundations of the logo depict an open book: one of the most universal symbols for knowledge and learning. The paper pages held within are replaced by leaves, to represent the surrounding area, the tree-themed class names, and the desire to learn and grow.
The Governing Body felt it was important to maintain elements of the Church in the new logo, so the overlapping leaves, emerging from a Bible, create a stained-glass effect, as well as forming similarities with the symbol of the Trinity. With the leaves representing the children of the school, having them intertwined displays a strong sense of community and ‘growing together’.
Though there are five distinct overlapping leaves, the image can also be interpreted as smaller leaves growing into larger leaves, all stemming from a bud right in the centre. This is a perfect representation of school life– starting off small and blossoming throughout your years at Barwick Primary.
