This half term we are learning about The Beach. The children have helped set up a beach role play in our outdoor area and have helped to create a 3D textured seaside display. Please come and visit our Fish and Chip shop and Ice-cream Parlour.

This half term we have been learning about Buildings. We have read the story of The Three Little Pigs and looked at different materials to build houses. We have also learnt about the different types of houses- detached, semi-detached, terraced, flats and bungalow. Some of the children have been on a village walk to find the different types of houses that we have been learning about.
We started our topic by reading the story of The Three Little Pigs. We created a small world tray to help us retell the story in our own words. The children also took part in an experiment where they had to build a house for the little pigs. We received a letter from mummy pig asking us to build a safe and strong house for her little pigs. The children were very excited by this and were very busy all day building houses using different materials- lego and bricks. Miss Leeman then pretended to be The Big Bad Wolf and tested the models to see how strong they were. Miss Leeman tried to blow the houses down and then tested to see how strong they were by trying to blow they down using her hair dryer! We had lots of fun!

We have been busy collecting cardboard boxes for building! The children have enjoyed using the boxes to create dens and houses with. We have also used large paintbrushes to decorate our boxes and transform them into houses.

Chinese New Year
In Nursery we have also celebrated Chinese New Year. This year Chinese New Year is on 19th February and it is the year of the Goat. Please visit our classroom to see our Chinese New Year display.
Snow!
We were very excited when it started to snow at Nursery! We put on our warm clothes and went to play in the snow. We even helped Reception make a snow man. It was lots of fun.
