Throughout Nursery, we focus on Phase 1 Phoncs: auditory discrimination. You can support this by playing lots of different listening games with your child. Focusing on different sounds within the environment helps your child to recognise distinct speech sounds and builds a secure foundation from which to work on visual recognition of letters as they move to Phase 2.
Our older children will begin to work on Phase 2 during the Summer Term, in preparation for transition to Reception.
