Are you entering Barwick's 500 Words Competition?
•It’s very simple!
•Write an original story on any subject or theme in 500 Words (or less) and submit it online.
•If you win, your story will be read live on the radio and you will rub shoulders with the world’s biggest celebrities and massive pop-stars performing at the Final!
What can you win?
•There are two age groups in the 500 Words competition - one for children aged 10-13, and another for children aged 5-9.
•There are Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes up for grabs in each age group!
•Not only do you have the chance of winning the main competition, but all stories will be submitted to Barwick’s 500 Words – with a selection of prizes available!
The Barwick Competition will have 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in the following age groups:
KS1
Lower KS2
Upper KS2
Help I don't know what to write!
Top Tips:
•Try to see the world differently.
•Use your imagination – weird and wonderful usually means a great story.
•Play with the main character. Are they a goodie, a baddie, or a baddie disguised as a goodie?
•Consider what challenges your characters have to face. What makes the story interesting?
•Add detail – and lots of it! Does your story include taste, sound, touch, sight and feeling? Don’t be afraid to make people go ‘Ewwww!’
•Always write the story that you would want to read.
•The deadline for online entries is 7pm on Thursday 25th February.
•All entries for the Barwick competition need to be handed in to Mrs Evans or Mr Freeman the following day.
