Today we celebrated England's amazing performance at the World Cup! It may not have 'come home' but the pupils and staff at Barwick certainly celebrated the England World Cup success.
Well done to Year Six who challenged the Teachers Football Team - a legendary team.....
Throughout the day all the children took part in mini tournaments, as well as some Maths and English World Cup tasks
Congratulations to Poppy who pupils voted as our Sports Personality of the year. During Poppy’s time at Barwick, she has been a role model for others and represented the school in gymnastics. Well done Lucia and Oscar who were runners up. Lucia is an amazing swimmer—the fastest nationally in her age group! Oscar is a keen boxer who has his sights set on world titles!
What a fabulous response to this half term’s alien homework!
Our school aliens help the children to use a range of ‘brain skills’. Congratulations to Annabelle and George for their winning entries. Well done to all the 57 children across the school who completed every homework task this half term! You will be playing Capture the Flag on Tuesday afternoon... come prepared!
This morning our Year 6 Leavers attended the diocesan annual leavers' celebration at Leeds Minister. The theme was 'Yesterday, Today, Forever' recalling that God is unchanging and is with us at all times and stages in our lives, whether we recognise it or not.
We were especially extremely proud of our pupils as they performed a drama interpretation of a bible reading from Matthew 5:14-16.
The bible uses the imagery of light to remind people of God's presence, love and care. The service ended with the lighting of our Year 6 Barwick candle which was then used to light candles held by pupils.
