Personal Development

Big opportunities for every child.

At Barwick, education is about much more than what happens in the classroom. We want every child to discover new interests, develop their talents, build confidence, contribute to their community and experience the wider world. Through clubs, leadership, sport, trips, visitors, residentials, performances and opportunities to serve others, we make sure that our children have experiences that help them grow into confident, compassionate and responsible young people.

Pupil Leadership

We believe children should have genuine opportunities to contribute to the life of their school. Our pupil leadership roles give children a voice, responsibility and the opportunity to make a difference. We currently have:

Clubs & Enrichment

Our programme of clubs and enrichment activities gives children opportunities to try something new, develop their interests and enjoy learning alongside others. Our clubs change throughout the year, giving children opportunities to experience a wide range of activities.

Sport & Competition

We want children to experience the enjoyment of being active, working as part of a team and representing their school. Throughout their time at Barwick, pupils have opportunities to participate in a range of sports, competitions and physical activities. Barwick is part of the School games and Active Leeds programmes.

Trips, Visitors & Experiences

Some of the most memorable learning happens beyond the classroom. Educational visits, visitors, workshops, performances and residential experiences help bring learning to life and give our children opportunities to experience places, people and activities they may not otherwise encounter.

Performing & Creating

Every child should have opportunities to discover what makes them shine. Through music, art, drama and performance, children develop confidence, creativity and the courage to share their talents with others. Every year all pupils get the opportuity to perform in various school productions in school and in church.

 Serving our Community

Our value of Service encourages children to look beyond themselves and consider how they can make a positive difference to others. Through school, church and community activities, children learn that even small actions can have a big impact.

Personal Development through the Curriculum

Personal development is woven throughout school life and our curriculum. We help children develop the knowledge, confidence and character they need to stay safe, build healthy relationships, understand the world around them and prepare for life beyond primary school.

Small School. Big Opportunities.

Being a small school doesn't limit what our children can experience. At Barwick, we want every child to leave us having discovered new interests, taken on responsibility, represented their school, contributed to their community and created memories that will last long after primary school.
