Maths |
Time to show what you have learned!
Since January, we have worked on decimals, percentages, algebra, converting units, measurements and ratios.
Record your answers to these maths questions. You do not need to print off the questions – simply record your answers in your Remote Learning book for each of the three sections: Decimals, volume and algebra.
|
45 mins - 1 hour |
We will mark the answers when you come in to school on Monday, so make sure you bring your work in.
|
|
Final Write up Today, you are going to use your work on your first draft of your story along with the extract you wrote yesterday using the Toolkit to help add the finishing touches to your story. Watch this tutorial to explain your task. Look through your writing for each section of the story, along with your boxing up and the ‘variety of toolkits’ before you start writing. Write your final story in one sitting, focusing on all of the elements of the story.
|
45 mins – 1 hour |
Bring your writing in on Monday and we will look at it in class.
|
Spelling |
Spelling Work through this tutorial on words which end with the ‘shul’ sound after a consonant letter. Use this to help you practise the spellings.

|
|
Reading |
Take a look at the reading comprehension in the resource folder. There are two texts (The Park and Bumble bees) and two sets of questions. You do not have to print out the texts or the questions – record your answers in your Remote Learning book.

English – Kidnapped Before starting today’s English work, please ensure you have completed all shared write sections 1 through to 5. There is a video tutorial for each individual section to help guide you through. Editing and redrafting parts using the toolkits
Our flashback tale draws upon two main toolkits:
Using the ‘Variety of Toolkits’ document, which combines ideas from both toolkits, go through each aspect and see which bits are missing from your practice paragraphs. It should be clear to you at this stage which parts of your story are suitable for suspense writing, and which parts are suitable for setting description. Some paragraphs will contain both types of writing!
You don’t need to rewrite whole sections for this bit, just rewrite sentences on a new page and make it clear where abouts it will fit in. You might want to use a coloured pencil or pen and number each new sentence you add, then place that number in your practice paragraph to show where you want it to go.
Writing the first draft |
45 mins – 1 hour |
Send a photo of your work on Teams or email; I will give you feedback.
|
||
|
If you wish, you can write up your whole first draft, combining all sections into one complete story. Tomorrow will be your hot write, so you may wish to have a practice at blending your sections together first.
Good luck!

Today is the day of our geography virtual field trip! We had to postpone this last time due to the weather.
This will be taking place on Teams during your usual afternoon slot. We will be using Google Earth to take part in a guided tour of the Amazon, as part of our geography topic studying North and South America.
For your geography lesson today, you will choose one other area of study from our work on South America and explore some of the landmarks and useful information about the area. Your task is to take part in the online guided tour and then complete a ‘visitor’s guide’ or ‘brochure’ to encourage people to visit. Think about the kind of information and language you will use to make it persuasive!
I will show you how to launch the guided tours in this afternoon’s virtual session. There is also a step by step guide below.
Visit: https://earth.google.com/web/
Click the magnifying glass to search for a location. Enter your location, for example Rio de Janeiro. Select Explore from the Guided Tours section:
From there, you are free to explore!
Here are some ideas for places you could study:
Remember, we are doing the Amazon (Brazil) as part of today’s afternoon session.

Number Day! |
Number Day!
Today we are doing something a bit different.
Firstly, look at the children’s book ‘Five Clever Mice’ in Teams. Today’s challenge is to write your own children’s book using numbers in a similar way.
If you look closely there are lots of grammatical features in it. - Subordinating clauses - Fronted adverbials - Parenthesis - Direct speech - Reporting clauses - Conjunctions
And best of all…. Numbers. Make sure you fit all the above in! There is a comic book strip template for you to use to create the different pages of your book. Make it funny, engaging and use numbers in a really clever way!
It is National Story Telling Week so please record yourself reading your story and send it in via Teams – we’ll be judging the best!

We looked at what the Amrit ceremony involves and how a Sikh might behave once they have become an Amritdhari. Today, Ramanjot, a young Sikh, will give us a tour of his Gurdwara, the Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Southall. He will show us the prayer hall, the dining hall and even the Guru Granth Sahib’s bedroom!

Check out the fitness challenge I have posted in the resource folder. There are three levels of challenge for you to choose from:
Level 1: complete the circuit 3 times in total, with a 2 minute rest in between each circuit. Take a break in between exercises if your body is telling you it needs a rest.
Level 2: complete the circuit 5 times in total, with a 1-2 minute rest in between each circuit. Take a break in between exercises if your body is telling you it needs a rest.
Level 3 (The ULTIMATE challenge): complete the circuit 7 times in total, with a 1 minute rest in between each circuit. Try to minimise breaks in between each exercise unless your body is telling you to slow down.
Before attempting the circuit, make sure you do a warm up and some stretches, just like we do in school.
Good luck!
