My professional career has been spent in the pensions industry, working with Trustees and sponsoring employers to manage their pension schemes. This involves a whole range of activities from effective governance, compliance with legislation and regulation (you may not expect it but this is constantly changing in the pensions world!), communication, budgeting, risk management and more. And I've been able to translate these skills and experience into the operations of the governing board since joining in 2014 and becoming Chair in 2019.
As well as being a governor, I've been a parent at school too (although my son moved up to high school in September 2021). During his time at Barwick, I saw him grow and flourish - not just academically, but as part of a caring community - and the experiences he had have helped him settle in quickly at his new school. I continue to volunteer as a governor because I want to help make sure our school continues to provide that same strong foundation for all our pupils - a happy and positive learning experience during their time at Barwick that equips them with knowledge, skills and confidence to be happy and successful when they leave.
