Welcome to the new Entrants page for families who are joining us in 2021.

We are delighted that you have chosen our school for your child and we look forward to meeting you.  I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Barwick-in-Elmet Church of England Primary School and to welcome you to our community. Our school has a unique place at the heart of a supportive village community. I hope you and your child relish your time with us over the next seven years.

Everyone at Barwick-in-Elmet Church of England Primary School is called and committed to their role in educating the children of the future.  We recognise that the time children spend with us is precious therefore we see it as our mission to inspire a love of learning.  I am privileged to work alongside extremely dedicated staff who strive to equip every child with exciting, challenging and memorable educational experiences during their time with us. At Barwick, we aim not only to educate pupils to their full potential but also to impart Christian values and a love of God. Our vision for education is deeply Christian, with the promise by Jesus of ‘life in all its fullness’ at its heart. Our vision embraces the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral and social development of all our learners. The vision for our school is to be a community of faith where we believe, achieve and grow together.

As parents, we want the very best for our children including regular, reliable, accessible information about their progress and achievement. As a school, we believe that home-school partnership is essential in developing your child’s positive attitude to learning, behaviour and achievement. During your child’s first year in our school, we will work together to develop and secure strong, effective home-school partnerships.

As you are aware, schools are currently operating under strict Covid restrictions. To protect all members of our school community, we have amended our transition for children starting with us in September 2021. Our new intake meeting for parents will be held virtually on Monday 21st June at 6.00pm via Zoom. You will receive an invitation on Wednesday 16th June by 3.00pm. We will email you via the address on your Leeds admission application. This will be an opportunity to hear about our school, ‘meet’ your child’s teacher, and be introduced to key staff who will be working with your child.  Prior to this meeting, you will have received our Welcome Pack containing all the information you will need for September.

During the intake meeting, we will be able to share more precise detail about the dates and timings your child will start school. Unfortunately, at this point we will not be able to offer home visits or stay and play opportunities. Should there be any changes to guidance from the Department of Education that impacts on our transition arrangements, we will inform you as soon as we are made aware.

We look forward to meeting you all on Zoom!

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.
